KOLKATA: The Kolkata police and the Army authorities are blaming each other for being "unresponsive" over the issue of deposition before their respective panels investigating the ransacking of the Park Street police station by the Army men. The incident was preceded by the alleged molestation of a woman by Army officers at a hotel here on the eve of New Year.
According to a Defence spokesperson, city police officials were asked to appear before the Army's three-member Court of Enquiry but they did not turn up. A senior police officer, who has been entrusted with the investigation that is being simultaneously conducted by the Detective Department of the city police, said that despite a request the Army had not contacted them regarding further investigation. Moreover, the Army was refusing to conduct the investigation at the site of the incident and instead demanding that people depose at the Army base.
