Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, is all set to celebrate the ninth edition of its annual technical fest, “Cognizance 2011”, beginning March 11.
The three-day event will see the convergence of unique scientific and technological developments and the hosting of over 150 events, including professional workshops, exhibitions, international conferences, competitions and online events.
Large-scale participation by students is expected.
One of the largest technical festivals in Asia, ‘Cognizance' was launched in 2003 and has grown in terms of participation, outreach and size.
The official website of the fest is http://www.cognizance.org.in. The theme of the fest, one of the few ISO 9001:2008-certified technical festivals and a certified Carbon Neutral Festival, is “For a Better Tomorrow”.
Events on smart cities, energy security and sustainability will address some of the pressing issues faced by humanity and encourage students to take up the challenge of finding the solutions for a better tomorrow.
Another USP of the fest is exhibitions featuring modern science and technology. The Army, the Defence Research and Development Organisation, National Instruments, Metalmate Inc., TouchMagix and others will host exhibitions at the fest.
Popular events include a national robotics championship, a model United Nations, parliamentary debate, quizzing, gaming and coding. Online events will also be held to engage the participants prior to the actual event.
Workshops on android applications, aero-modelling, cyber forensics and personality development have been planned in addition to other events which will be conducted by 17 departments of the institute.
