LONDON: A teenager was on Sunday charged with the murder of Geeta Aulakh, the young Sunrise Radio receptionist, who was found in a pool of blood on a street in the west London suburb of Greenford last week. Police identified him as Sher Singh (18) from Southall, a predominantly Asian neighbourhood near Greenford. He will appear at a magistrate’s court on Monday.
Eleven others who were arrested, including Ms. Aulakh’s estranged husband Harpreet, are on bail.
Ms. Aulakh (28) was on her way to collect her two sons, aged eight and nine, from her baby-sitter’s house when she was attacked. She died in hospital of severe head injuries. Police were trying to find out whether she was attacked elsewhere and later left on the pavement in Greenford.
Ms. Aulakh is suspected to have been a victim of domestic violence. It has been reported that on two occasions, she called the police apparently after rows with her husband, from whom she later separated.
