SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh Government has decided to award a cash prize of Rs.10 lakh to the cleanest Panchayat in the State.
According to State Secretary (Rural Development) Srikant Baldi, the Government has decided to form the “Maharishi Valmiki Sampuran Swachhata Puraskar” in order to achieve the goal of safe and hygienic sanitary conditions for all. The best Panchayat at the divisional level will get a cash prize of Rs.5 lakh. Prizes of Rs.3 lakh and Rs.1 lakh will be given at the district and block level competitions.
Mr. Baldi said that all gram panchayats which have provision for solid and liquid waste disposal both for individuals and communities, water harvesting, drought fighting efforts, maintenance of traditional water sources, innovation in technology both for households and communities, home management, household cleanliness, aesthetic sense in the community landscaping and plantation, and school sanitation will be eligible to compete for the awards.
The awards will be conferred upon the selected gram panchayats on August 15.
