Dharamshala: Former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Sunday accused Prem Kumar Dhumal Government of ‘witch-hunting’ and exuded confidence that he will come out untainted of all the charges levelled against him as he had done in the past.
“The previous Dhumal government in 1998-2003 had slapped about 24 cases against me and had recommended CBI probe into them. But despite the fact that the NDA was in power at the Centre at that time the CBI had ultimately given me clean chit in these cases, Mr. Singh told reporters here.
“If they want to bring me under pressure again the same way I am ready to face it”, he said, adding he was confident of getting a clean chit again. The state vigilance department recently got the permission from the Shimla sessions court to reopen the ‘chit scam’ pertaining to Mr. Singh allegedly giving jobs to many people on the basis of chits written by him to different departments and boards.
The Dhumal Government has also handed over the chargesheet prepared by the BJP against Mr. Singh and other ministers to the State Vigilance Bureau for necessary action. PTI
