Mumbai: Veteran journalist and the former editor of Blitz, R. K. Karanjia, died at his residence on Friday, family sources said. He was 95.

Mr. Karanjia, who was one of the most dynamic editors of the tabloid was a firebrand journalist who never hesitated to call a spade a spade.

He is survived by his daughter Rita Mehta, Editor of Cine Blitz.

Born on September 15, 1912, Mr. Karanjia, brother of noted film journalist B. K. Karanjia, had worked as an Assistant Editor of the Times of India.

He left the Times of India in 1940 to launch the now-defunct Blitz.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmkh said, “Mr. Karanjia was one of the finest investigative journalists who had a style of his own. We have lost a fearless journalist. ” — PTI
