All applications to the Central Social Welfare Board and its State unit can now be sent online through the e-awedan software, launched in the State on Thursday.

Speaking after launching the software, Central Social Welfare Board Chairperson Prema Cariappa said that the Karnataka was one of the six States in which the online application facility was being launched on a pilot basis.

Ms. Cariappa said that in the second phase of the initiative by April this year, applicants will be provided a code through which they will also be able to check the status of the application online.

She said that this was part of the e-governance initiative of the Centre, being made with an aim to lessen paperwork and introduce transparency.

This facility, she said, will be introduced in a phased manner in all the States across the country. For further details, log into www.cswb.gov.in.
