Says resumption of the dialogue process a good omen

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Thursday emphasised the need for greater cooperation between India and Pakistan to end terrorism and violence. The joint anti-terror mechanism initiated by the two countries was a good beginning in this direction, it said.

According to Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, secretary, "the resumption of the dialogue process between India and Pakistan, with the holding of the Foreign Secretaries' meeting after a delay of four months in the wake of the unfortunate terror strikes in Mumbai and other places, is a good omen for the people of Jammu and Kashmir."

He expressed satisfaction that the two countries, after leaving behind the acrimony of the last few months, had embarked on a course of peaceful resolution of issues. He attributed it to the intense desire of the people for peace and reconciliation. The peace process and the confidence-building measures initiated by the two countries generated fresh hope. The measures must benefit a cross-section of people across the LoC.
