Hemlal Murmu, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) recently, put in his papers from the membership of the Jharkhand Assembly on Friday.
“Hemlal Murmu has resigned from the Assembly membership,” Speaker Shashank Sekhar Bhokta said here.
“Bidyut Baran Mahto also called me over the phone and said he is sending his resignation letter today [Friday],” he added.
Both Mr. Murmu and Mr. Mahto, who won the Assembly elections on the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ticket, joined the BJP after being in the party for several years.
On Thursday, Chandrasekhar Dubey, who quit the Congress and joined the Trinamool Congress, had resigned as MLA. — PTI
