After Rajasthan, sociologist Ashis Nandy found himself in trouble in Andhra Pradesh for his “SCs, STs and OBCs are more corrupt” remarks at Jaipur Literature Festival recently.

In a complaint lodged with Gandhi Nagar Police Station here on Tuesday, senior journalist and Dalit rights activist Mallepalli Lakshmaiah alleged that the remarks made by Prof. Nandy were “offensive, abusive, derogatory and insulting” to SCs and STs. His comments attracted the penal provisions of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Indian Penal Code and Protection of Civil Rights Act, he added. Four days ago, Karimnagar Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar led representatives of SC, ST and OBC Association to file a similar complaint in Karimnagar Two Town police station.
