D. Ananya, who scored 592 marks out of 600, the highest overall score in the Commerce stream in the II pre-university examination, dedicated her success to her school and parents.
She scored 100 marks each in Computer Science, Business Studies, Accountancy and Kannada, 99 marks in Statistics and 93 marks in English.
She said her parents, who are farmers, never asked her to do household chores. Her sister, an engineering student at CMRIT, Bangalore, helped her by giving tips on how to handle specific problems in Commerce and in languages. She wants to become a Chartered Accountant and is getting ready for the entrance examination either in December 2011 or June 2012.
Fr. Ivan Rodrigues, principal, St. Philomena's PU College, Puttur, said that despite hailing from a modest family in Jalsoor, near Sullia, Ananya was good not only in academics but was also in co-curricular activities. “She is a talented girl. She writes Kannada poems and is good at drawing as well,” he said. Ananya studied at Shri Sharada P.U.
