Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice-Chancellor Lieutenant-General (Retired) Zameeruddin Shah has advised teachers to submit details of their properties by October 15.
Addressing faculty members during an interactive session, the V-C cautioned that if the teachers do not comply with the order he would have no option but to forward their names to the Union Human Resource Development Ministry’s Vigilance Department.
He said there had been serious allegations of favouritism and partiality in the appointment of guest faculties in the university in the past. AMU, he added, could regain its top position among the country’s universities only if there was a transparent system of appointment of teaching staff, adding that team spirit appeared to be missing at AMU and there were constant reports of “allegations and counter-allegations within members of the teaching staff”.
The V-C also announced that all teaching positions at AMU lying vacant since the past several years will be filled shortly. — PTI
