Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday told political parties in Maharashtra that the process for building a memorial to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on the land owned by Indu Mill in Central Mumbai would be expedited.

Dr. Singh gave this assurance to a delegation of the Congress, the Nationalist Congress Party and a conglomeration of Dalit parties led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.

The team called on the Prime Minister at the Raj Bhavan.

He promised the delegation that on his return to New Delhi he would direct the Textile and Environment ministries to look into it.
