All the six candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections, including film star-turned-politician K. Chiranjeevi and former Union Minister Renuka Chowdary, were declared elected unopposed on Thursday.
Of the six vacant seats for which notification was issued, the Congress bagged four and the TDP two. The results of the biennial election were announced after the deadline for withdrawal of nominations ended this afternoon.
Two others, including former Minister Palvai Goverdhan Reddy and Rapole Ananda Bhaskar, from the Congress, and former Home Minister T. Devender Goud and industrialist C.M. Ramesh (both TDP) were also declared elected.
