Tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi's debut Bollywood movie Chalo Dilli, starring his wife Lara Dutta, got relief from the Delhi High Court on Tuesday as it declined to stay its release this coming Friday for alleged violation of copyrights on a song in it.
Music composer Anandji Virji Shah had approached the Court alleging that the film-maker had violated the copyrights by making a remix of his popular song “Laila oh Laila….” from the 1980s popular Hindi film Qurbani.
The movie starring Lara Dutta, who tied the knot with Mahesh only recently, and actor Vinay Pathak is set for release this Friday. However, Justice Manmohan Singh issued a notice to the film's director and producer and sought their responses by May 12.
Filing a civil suit, Anandji, who along with brother Kalyanji formed the banner ‘Kalyanji-Anandji', claimed that the song “Laila oh Laila…..” was taken from Qurbani.
