Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi was on Friday brought back to the District Jail, Adilabad, within 9 hours of his departure for Nizamabad where he was to spend two days in police custody as part of the inquiry in the hate speech case. Police from the neighbouring district took him into custody at about 9. 30 a.m. to escort him for questioning.

There was some delay in shifting the legislator to Nizamabad due to unavailability of bullet-proof vehicle driver. The vehicle was subsequently driven by an Armed Reserve sub inspector.

Mr. Owaisi is believed to have complained of pain in lower abdomen before he emerged to proceed towards Nizamabad.

Staff Reporter adds: The Nizamabad police led by Deputy SP J. Ram Mohan Rao interrogated the AIMIM floor leader in the Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi for two hours at the AR headquarters here on Friday.

The interrogation was held in the presence of Akbar’s lawyers Akbar Khan and Majid Khan from 12 noon to 3 p.m. In the meantime, he was given one hour lunch recess. As soon as he arrived from Adilabad, the interrogation began. Besides Deputy SP, Circle Inspector N. Saidulu, II Town Sub-Inspector Asif and Public Prosecutor Krishnam Raju were also participated. Since the interrogation was conducted incamera, the details of it were not known to the waiting media persons. The police too refused to comment on it. After questioning Akbar, the police shifted him to the Adilabad prison in the late afternoon. He was scheduled to be produced before the First Additional First Class Judicial Magistrate court again on February 7.
