Allahabad: Effecting a major reshuffle in the lower judiciary in Uttar Pradesh, the Allahabad High Court has transferred nearly 400 judicial officers, including four District and Sessions judges, through a number of administrative orders

The District and Sessions Judge of Azamgarh, Nanhe Lal, has been transferred with immediate effect in the same capacity to Mau. He will replace Chhote Lal who has been asked to take charge of Azamgarh.

In a similar swapping of judges, the District and Sessions Judge of Basti, Mukhtar Ahmed, has been transferred in the same capacity to Fatehpur. He will replace Ram Briksh Yadav who has been directed to take charge of Basti, according to information on the High Court’s official website.

Fast track courts

In addition, 184 Additional District and Sessions Judges posted at regular courts and 94 Additional District and Sessions Judges posted at fast track courts have been transferred in the same capacity.

Others transferred include 100 judges/additional judges of small cause courts, civil judges/additional civil judges (Senior Division), CJMs/Additional CJMs and Chief Metropolitan Magistrates/Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrates.

They have been asked to keep themselves ready to hand over charge at their present place of posting on June 6, 2009.

Other transfers

Besides, three judges/additional judges of small cause courts, civil judges/additional civil judges (Senior Division), CJMs/Additional CJMs and Chief Metropolitan Magistrates/Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrates likely to be promoted as Additional District and Sessions judges of fast track courts have been transferred.

Dinesh Chandra Singh, an officer of UP Nyayik Sewa who is likely to be posted as Regular District and Session judge, has been transferred from Hathras to Mau, through a separate order. - PTI
