The Wyra police on Wednesday arrested four members of a gang of "cyber criminals" who were allegedly involved in about 44 cases of fraudulent withdrawal of money to the tune of Rs 30 lakh from ATM centres in the district. According to police, the four members, including the kingpin of the gang, Haridas Biswas, 30, of Odisha, were earlier arrested by the Malkangiri police of Odisha in connection with their alleged involvement in major cyber offences involving the use of cloned ATM cards in around ten States across the country.

The ATM frauds allegedly committed by the gang at various places in the country amounted to several crores of rupees, sources added.

The district police obtained specific clues pertaining to their involvement in similar offences in the district after sharing of information with the Malkangiri police.
