As many as 35 students of the Morarji Desai Residential School at Thangalagere in Mandya taluk were admitted to the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) hospital here on Thursday. They fell ill after having lunch at the school.
Doctors at the MIMS hospital said that the admitted children are out of danger. However, they will be discharged only after Friday morning.
Mandya Deputy Commissioner B.N. Krishnaiah, Assistant Commissioner Shantha L. Hulamani, District Information Officer R. Raju and other officials visited the MIMS hospital and enquired about the health of the children.
Samples of food from the hostel have been collected by the authorities and sent for laboratory tests.
