JAIPUR: Two Indian Air Force personnel were killed and two injured when ammunition brought from Gujarat exploded at the Chandan firing range near Pokhran in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan on Monday. The explosion happened when the ammunition was being unloaded from a truck.
Police said the ammunition was brought for safe disposal at the firing range, 45 km from Jaisalmer. As the blast occurred with a deafening sound in the afternoon, Air Force personnel ran helter-skelter.
While one was killed on the spot, another died of his injuries later. The condition of the two injured was stated to be stable. The expiry date of ammunition was reportedly over.
