The victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots on Thursday withdrew their plea seeking permission to bring on court record two news articles from November 8 and November 25, 1984, which purportedly have mention of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in the aftermath of the riots.

District Judge J. R. Aryan said that summoning the editors of the two English dailies would delay the trial proceedings which are in a final stage following which senior advocate H. S. Phoolka, appearing for the victims, withdrew the plea. On April 3, all the parties involved in the case will have to conclude their final submissions.
