A group of young IT professionals, who have formed a network under the IT and Communication Cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party, will organise a programme on Sunday to mark Vijay Diwas in honour of the sacrifices made by the armed forces in the 1971 India-Pakistan war.
Announcing this at a press conference here on Thursday, IT and Communication Cell convener Ambarish said Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar would inaugurate the event to be held at RBANMS grounds, near Ulsoor lake.
A short film on the sacrifices of the armed forces in the 1971 war would be screened on the occasion, he said while pointing out that 3,853 Indian soldiers had died in the war. Five soldiers who took part in this war would be honoured on the occasion, he added. The event would also feature a musical programme.
The main intention of organising such a programme was to instil patriotism and to encourage more number of youth to join the armed forces, Mr. Ambarish added.
Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravishankar would also participate in the programme.
