The Hindu EducationPlus career counselling sessions are being held at 15 centres over three weekends

Done well in your II PU or Class 12 exams? That is just one more hurdle crossed before you move a step closer to your dream career. With more options than ever before, the career maze has gotten even more confusing. And, to lend a helping hand to choose the career and course perfect for you, The Hindu EducationPlus is back with its annual career counselling sessions.

An off-page extension of our weekly supplement The Hindu EducationPlus, The Hindu EducationPlus Career Counselling 2014 which will cover 15 centres over three weekends, got off to a successful start in four centres — Bangalore, Hassan, Hubli and Shimoga — yesterday.

It will travel to KGF, Davangere, Belgaum, Bidar and Mysore on May 31, and conclude in Bellary, Udupi, Tumkur, Bijapur, Gulbarga and Mangalore on June 1.

The Common Entrance Test (CET) holds the key for admissions to government and government-quota seats in medical, engineering, dental and architecture courses in the State.

Apart from last year’s addition of admissions to farm science courses, students who have written the CET this year will be eligible for admissions to first year degree courses in B. Pharma and D. Pharma, and second year B. Pharma (lateral entry) courses.

Similar to the earlier formats, the interactive session has officials from the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) explaining the procedures of online counselling and admission that follows the CET.

Participants hear from leading academicians, including general education experts, on the various courses and career options available.

Handbook

Another attraction is The Hindu EducationPlus’ Career Handbook 2014 — a well-researched publication on the emerging careers and courses — titled Know Your True Calling .
