The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) has appealed to the Chief Justice of Madras High Court to take necessary action in the case pertaining to the arrest of Coonoor judicial magistrate S. Thangaraj on charges of rape and cheating.
In a statement issued here, AIDWA (Tamil Nadu) general secretary P. Suganthi said it was shocking to note that the judicial magistrate was released on bail the next day and had resumed his official duties.
A person facing grave charges discharging duty as a magistrate would bring down faith of the people in judiciary, she said. AIDWA State president N. Amirtham said a demo would be organised in Tirupur on July 5 demanding action in the case as there was adequate material evidence to substantiate the claims of the victim.
