The Government of India have sent a strong note to the Chinese Government stating that India “stands firmly” by the McMahon Line as representing the boundary between India and the Tibet region of China from the eastern border of Bhutan up to Burma. Referring to the circulation of Chinese maps showing large areas of Indian Territory as part of China, it said it was “a standing threat to India’s integrity.” The Government of India have also said that they were prepared “to discuss the exact alignment of the McMahon Line at places where it departs from the geographical features marking the international boundary.”
