Mr. John Foster Dulles, former Secretary of State, died in the Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington at the age of 71. Prime Minister Nehru, in a message to the President Eisenhower said: “I have just heard with deep sorrow of the death of Mr. John Foster Dulles. Please accept, Mr. President, my sincere condolences at the passing away of a great servant of the State, who laboured throughout his life with devotion to serve his people and the great cause he had at heart – Jawaharlal Nehru”. The Prime Minister has also asked the Indian Ambassador in Washington to convey his profound sympathy to Mrs. Dulles.
