The Soviet Defence Minister, Marshal Zhukov, described the Integral Coach Factory at Perambur, Madras, which he visited on February 5, soon after his arrival in the city, as wonderful and remarked that India required such plants to build up her future. Marshal Zhukov and party went round the factory in cars seeing the various stages of production. At one or two places, the Marshal got down and made enquiries of workers about their wages and conditions of service. Later, he visited the Technical Training School where apprentices are trained and acquainted himself with the nature of the training given there.
