Prime Minister Nehru said in New Delhi on February 26 that the friendship of India and the Indian people with the Soviet Union and the Soviet people was based “not on some passing fancy or some passing advantage but has much deeper roots which can survive even occasional differences of opinion.” The Prime Minister, who was speaking at a dinner given by Mr. A.A. Andreyev, leader of the Government delegation of the Soviet Union, said he thought that that kind of friendship between India and the Soviet Union was “certainly good for my country”, good for the Soviet Union and the rest of the world too.
