The Andhra Pradesh-Madras (Alteration of Boundaries) Act, 1959 will come into force from April 1, 1960, according to an official communication issued in New Delhi on December 30. The Act provides for the alteration of the boundaries of the States of Andhra Pradesh and Madras and for matters connected therewith. It also makes necessary supplemental and incidental provisions relating to representation in the legislatures, apportionment of assets and liabilities, authorisation of expenditure and other matters.
