Action against ruler
The Madhya Pradesh Government are in consultation with the Centre on the action to be taken regarding Maharajah Pravinchandra Bhan Dev, Ruler of the erstwhile tribal State of Bastar in southern Madhya Pradesh. Among the charges against the Maharajah are that he has been inciting the Adivasis who number about eight lakhs to violence. The situation there is very delicate and calls for careful handling. The Adivasis still look upon the Ruler of Bastar as a representative of the Goddess Danteswari Mata in whose name the Maharaja ruled just as the Travancore Maharajahs ruled in the name of Lord Padmanabha.
Industrial estates
Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri, Union Minister for Commerce and Industries, stressed in Bangalore on November 26 the need for big industries, either in the public or the private sector, to establish ancillary industries through setting up industrial estates, when he laid the foundation-stone for the Industrial Estate established by the Hindustan Machine Tools Factory in the vicinity of the Factory. Such industrial estates, Mr. Shastri said, would also serve to solve the problem of unemployment, particularly in the rural areas. At the outset, Mr. Mathulla, Managing Director of the HMT, welcomed the Union Minister, Mr. Shastri and Mr. K.C. Reddi, Mr. B.D. Jatti, State Chief Minister and other Mysore Ministers that attended the function.
