Busts in bronze and in marble of the late T.V. Sundaram Iyengar, founder Chairman of the T.V.S. and Sons (Private) Limited, Madurai, were unveiled at a function in Madurai on August 5 by the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Mr. T.T. Krishnamachari. Mr. M. Bhaktavatsalam, State Minister for Agriculture, presided over the function. Mr. M.R. Kannan, Secretary, T.V.S. Memorial Committee, presented a welcome address. Mr. T.K. Seshadri read messages of good wishes. Mr. C. Rajagopalachari, in his message, stated, "I am glad the grateful and sensible employees of the T.V.S. are installing a statue of Mr. Sundaram Iyengar. It will be an inspiration to all poor, honest and humble folk and a demonstration of the vast possibilities of straightforward business." Unveiling the busts, Mr. Krishnamachari said that he knew Mr. Sundaram Iyengar during the last ten years through his sons who were his good friends. He was able to assess the outlook of Mr. Sundaram Iyengar, namely to treat his employees nicely and to provide them with all the good things of life. The tradition built up by him was being carried on by his sons.
