The creation of a National Productivity Council to direct and coordinate a national movement for productivity has been recommended by a meeting of experts drawn from different interests, convened in New Delhi on September 16 by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The Government have informally accepted the recommendation. The proposed NPC should be set up, to begin with, by a Government resolution and later registered as an association. On it should be represented the national organisations of employers and workers and Government nominees in equal proportion. Representatives of associations of technicians, professional consultants and research workers as well as other interests such as small industries would be coopted on the Council.
