The President of Pakistan, General Mohammed Ayub Khan, talking to Pressmen in Rawalpindi on November 10, said that India and Pakistan should settle their disputes amicably and peacefully and cultivate friendly relations between them. That would be the only way to stabilise the position of both the countries. Answering questions about the internal problems, he said that the main task of his Government was to face the situation created by politicians and to remove all doubts from the minds of the people including businessmen and industrialists. It was a hard task, he said, and his Government was working hard to undo what politicians had done during the last so many years. The General said that he was of the firm conviction everyone in Pakistan should live peacefully and in complete harmony.
