Pussy Riot member pulls out of hearing

One of the jailed members of Russian punk band Pussy Riot on Wednesday dramatically pulled out of a hearing requesting parole from her two-year jail sentence for a protest against President Vladimir Putin in a Moscow church. The court in Perm carried on with the hearing and denied her bail. Maria Alyokhina (25, in picture) appeared via videolink from a prison and after the hearing had lasted more than five hours, she protested that she wanted to pull out and turned away from the camera. — AFP
