India-born former Goldman Sachs Director Rajat Gupta has been ordered to pay a $13.9-million penalty and has been permanently barred from acting as an officer or director of a public company in a civil case over insider trading. Gupta is appealing his June, 2012 conviction in a criminal case over passing of corporate secrets to his friend and former hedge fund manager Raj Rajaratnam, in which he was handed a two-year prison term and fined $5 million. — PTI
