The former President, General (retd.) Pervez Musharraf, flew to Karachi on Saturday evening to stay with his daughter Ayla and also seek medical treatment.

Aasia Ishaque, secretary, information, of the All Pakistan Muslim League, the party formed by Gen. Musharraf, said that he wanted to spend time with his family as his wife was away in Sharjah to care for his ailing mother.

He is also expected to undergo some tests at the PNS Shifa hospital in Karachi. His requests to get his name off the Exit Control List (ECL) have not been successful and the government has not permitted him to leave the country to meet his mother or seek medical treatment.

He was indicted on March 31 by the special court trying him for high treason but the court did not regulate his custody and said he was free to move about provided he appeared in court when it was necessary.
