South Africa said on Sunday Nelson Mandela was still critically ill but improving slightly, declining to comment on a report that he had undergone an operation. Mr. Mandela underwent a “surgical procedure to unblock a dialysis tube” on Friday at a Pretoria health facility, according to U.S. news network CBS. The operation was “minor”, it reported. But presidential spokesman Mac Maharaj would not confirm that the procedure took place, telling, “he is critical, stable, but there is some improvement,” he told AFP. — AFP
