An Indian national, apparently the victim of mistaken citizenship, will soon be repatriated home from Malaysia.

Identified as Nallusamy Sekar from Tamil Nadu, he is in a detention camp long after he is said to have completed a mandatory term of punishment for not possessing valid documents for stay in that country.

The Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, alerted to this by a Malaysian news report, is making arrangements for the repatriation.

As soon as the Indian national completed his term of detention, the camp authorities seemed to have mistakenly asked the embassy of a South Asian country other than India to arrange his repatriation. This apparent confusion about his nationality led to his prolonged detention because the wrongly-alerted embassy could not obviously arrange the necessary repatriation, according to diplomatic sources.
