In-camera trial for Mubarak in October

Share  ·   print   ·

A new hearing date was set for October 19 as former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak appeared on Saturday in court for a retrial on alleged complicity in the killing of protesters. Chief judge Mahmoud al-Rashidi ruled that three sessions, set for between October 19 and 21, could not be broadcast on television or covered in print media. He cited security reasons. In those closed-door hearings, the court is to cross-examine former Prime Minister Atef Ebeid; ex-chief of the intelligence service Murad Mewafi; and former Interior Minister Ahmed Gamal Eddin.
