Spanish police said on Wednesday they have laid criminal charges against a football fan for throwing a banana at Barcelona defender Dani Alves.
They had arrested the young man on Tuesday, two days after the ugly incident and charged with an offence against civil rights and liberties before releasing.
If found guilty, he could face a sentence of up to three years in prison.
FIFA president Blatter reacted on Twitter, saying: “What @DaniAlves2 tolerated last night is an outrage. We must fight all forms of discrimination uni’ed. Will be zero tolerance at #World Cup.” He spread his anti-racism message on Wednesday to the U.S. after the NBA banned Donald Sterling for life. — AFP
