ISLAMABAD: Hours after a blast near President Pervez Musharraf's Rawalpindi home, security personnel defused two rockets near the Parliament buildings on Thursday. Construction workers discovered the rockets close to the National Assembly near housing for parliamentarians.

Aside from the Parliament, the President's house, Aiwan-e-Sadr, the Supreme Court, and the Prime Minister's Office, are in the same area.

At the time the workers found the rockets, the President was addressing a conference at a nearby convention centre on the government's earthquake recovery programme, ahead of the first anniversary of the October 8, 2005 disaster that killed 75,000 people in Pakistan

On Wednesday night, an explosion shook Rawalpindi. It was traced to a park close to Army House, the official residence of the Army chief where Gen. Musharraf has chosen to stay on instead of moving into the presidential residence.
