SINGAPORE: Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram on Thursday received a delegation of the Singapore-based India Business Forum (IBF) before completing a two-day visit. The IBF, representing Indian companies here, seeks to project “brand India” as an emerging phenomenon in this part of the world; and the forum’s meeting with the Minister took place in the ‘feel-good’ atmosphere of Tata’s latest takeover story.
IBF Chairman Girja Pandey later said the forum discussed with the Minister issues relating to the investment climate in this region in sectors such as information technology. Mr. Chidambaram met his Singapore counterpart Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Foreign Minister George Yeo. India’s High Commissioner to Singapore S. Jaishankar participated in these meetings.
