Fun and frolic filled the air during the 22{+n}{+d}Annual Day Fiesta-2013 of Vidyodaya High School at Gurajada Kalakshetram. Scores of students along with their parents were seen rejoicing and participating in various cultural programmes at the venue.

M. Ponnuswamy, Commissioner of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax, appreciated the school management for nurturing creative skills and students for their active part in various cultural programmes. The event also saw the fifth Indian Idol Sreerama Chandra gracing the stage. He said that the celebrations reminded him of his childhood days. Adding to the celebrations, awards were given away to the last year meritorious students of SSC. Principal of the school D. Prem Kumar underlined the need to be disciplined in every sphere of life. A host of cultural performances were staged and a skit on the atrocities against women gripped the viewers’ attention. Trustee of VMDA G.R.K. Prasad, assistant commissioner of government examinations P. Rambabu, D. Bhagirath Kumar of the school and other staff members were present.

Beating exam blues

Aiming to help students overcome fear of examinations, P.E.N. School along with Sahay (St. Joseph’s Assistance for Holistic Adjustment of Youngsters) organised an interactive session recently. St. Joseph’s College for Women (Autonomous) (SJCW) consultant psychologist G.K. Beatress delivered lecture on ‘Facing Examination Without Stress and Fear’.

Students of class X found the session quite handy as the programme focused on various methods of writing examination with proper planning and preparedness. Experts offered tips on how to gain confidence during exams and emphasised on the overall development of the children.

Principal of the school Anita Pereira appreciated the team members of Sahay for extending their support and taking the initiative to educate students. Principal of St. Joseph College N.D. Veronica and Suguna Kannan of SJCW and others also participated.
