Numerous laws have been made to protect women from being victims of brutality. Indian laws have tried to protect women from various crimes. However, despite the enactment of various laws, Indian women are still objectified and subjected to cruelty. It is sad but Indian laws have failed drastically.

But is blaming the Indian laws and the government enough? Of course not!

Many blame the harassment of women as an influence of “Westernization” on traditional Indian culture. Hence, there are voices that often call on women to dress modestly or not stay out late to avoid becoming victims of such crimes. .

India is a country of spirituality and knowledge. In this fast paced age, we have updated everything, our food, dressing style and lifestyle but not our thoughts. Even though we boast of being very modern, our thoughts are still stuck in the 1880s. We have a mentality which in some way or the other is trying to control women, targeting women. The correction has to start from family and society.
