From the margins of society, the underprivileged children from two neighbourhood slums of Iravathanallur Adi Dravidar Colony and Uchaparamedu had loads of fun and laughter at a Deepavali festival organised for the ‘Underprivileged Children’ here on Sunday.

Sneham Trust, Kalai Nagar, Madurai has been conducting festivals for the last three years among the underprivileged children on the occasion of Ramzan, Deepavali and Christmas in an effort to provide them the right space to showcase their cultural talents and to have fun.

A total of 130 children from Iravathanallur Adi Dravidar Colony and Uchaparamedu participated in the Deepavali festival and shook their legs to various tunes from popular Tamil film and folk songs. Apart from that they had many indoor games and many children walked away with prizes most of which were crackers. Children from both these places were also part of the annual summer camp.
