We asked you how efficient your school was with waste management...
A Principal’s view
We care only for user-friendly things. But majority of the user-friendly commodities fail to be eco-friendly. Use & throw ball pens, in spite of their user-friendly appeal is made of non-biodegradable plastics. So also are polythene bags. Use of ink pens should be made mandatory. It is high time that we banned the use of thermocol in schools. Use of stapler pins and junk clips add to the menace. Cotton tags & puncture machine to tie papers can be a better substitute. Geometry boxes & dissection sets also add to the issue.

Use clay instead
My school does not allow thermocol inside the campus. Instead, my teachers encourage us to make models out of clay. While making these models, I askmyself what I want to make, how I make it, and if it turns out the way I want it to. This activity improved my creativity, art skill, writing skill, concentration power .
Class 3,Chettinad Public School, Managiri, Karaikudi.
Firstly the school canteens must stop using plastic plates, plastic cups etc. Students should be strictly advised by their heads to stop using plastics as much as possible inside the school premises.
The school management should organise campaigns to make the students aware of what really happen due to excessive plastic usage. The children will surely carry this practice home and the nation as a whole will benefit from this.
