A budding classical singer, Sowmya Sridhar, enthralled the audience with perfection in the deliverance of ‘sruti’, ‘bhava’ and ‘laya’ of her songs at Sri Tyagaraja Cultural Association's auditorium, here on Sunday.
The audience were welcomed with ‘Mathe’, a Daru Varanam in Khamasa Ragam, which was followed by “Nee kela daya radu”, Sarasangi ragam by Ramaswamy Iyyer, “Swagatam Krishna”, Mohana by Uthukadu Venkatasubayya, “Devi brova”, Chintamani ragam, by Syamasastri.
Sowmya Sridhar is a direct B-High Grade artiste in All India Radio. Trained under various gurus for the past 15 years, the girl’s rendition of an Alapana in Hamsanadam and the subsequent “Kalyanarama” were a class apart. The best of the concert came in the form of a Bilahari by Tyagaraja's “Narasimha nannu”. She was accompanied by Palaparthi Nageswara Rao on Violin and N.S. Kalayanaraman on Mridangam which added to the classy output of the concert.
