South African paceman Wayne Parnell has been released from World Twenty20 duties in Chittagong to appear in court in India on drug charges, team management said Wednesday.

He is due to appear in court in Mumbai on Thursday on charges linked to a late-night party after an Indian Premier League (IPL) game in 2012, during his stint at the Pune Warriors. “We were made aware before the World Twenty20 that Wayne would have to travel to India to appear in court as a matter of procedure and we have made provision for this in our planning,” South African team manager Moosajee said.AFP
