Should SUVs be taxed?

One for all

SUV s (Sports Utility Vehicles) should not be taxed. These SUVs are luxury cars (at least in India). The three per cent tax on SUVs should be removed so that both the rich and the poor can afford an SUV. Though these luxurious and big vehicles provide inconvenience to pedestrians and passers-by. The three per cent tax should be cancelled so that every person in our country spends a luxurious life. The removal of tax can benefit the economy of our country.

Burden on consumers

One wonders why SUV-makers should feel uneasy over the excise duty when they are going to pass the burden on to the consumers. Rich or poor, it is the consumers who suffer the most in the random tax revision. Any policy should help hand consumers not burden them. Before proposing the withdrawal of the three per cent tax on the SUVs, it would be good if Mr. Patel would have thought of its pros and cons.
