Rashtrotthana Vidya Kendra, Thanisandra, held ‘Sankalpa Divas’ for the graduating students of Class 10. Students took a ‘sankalp’ (pledge) to uphold the ideals of the institution and serve the country with the spirit of patriotism.

Madhusudananda Puri of Omkareshwara Math spoke on the importance of ‘guru’ (teacher) in one’s life. He told the graduating students to choose the right path and lead a simple life.

During the ‘deepa pradhana’ and ‘deepa sweekara’ ceremonies, school captain Supreeth Chadaga and Navya handed over their responsibilities to student leaders of the next academic year. They took oath to fulfil their duties honestly.

A few students of Class 10 recounted their experiences in the school. Parents too expressed their gratitude to all faculty members for the holistic development of their children and inculcating values in them.

Ganapathi Hegde, Treasurer, Rashtrotthana Parishat, told the students to imbibe the ideals of great personalities such as Swami Vivekananda, Dr. Ambedkar, and Dr. M.C. Modi, which would make them understand the meaning of ‘sankalp’. School correspondent Maheshwaraiah was present.

National Science Day

PSSEMR School, Tolahunase, Davangere, celebrated National Science Day by conducting a science exhibition. The programme was held to create awareness among students about the growth of science in recent times.

Models on rockets, submarine, catalytic converter used in automobiles and so on were part of the exhibits. Class 9 IGCSE students made a power point presentation on how India could achieve greater heights in agriculture, information technology, education, health and space programmes. School principal J.S. Vanitha lauded the efforts of the students and staff members for making the event a success.

Annual day

Amara Jyothi English School, K.R. Puram, celebrated its 29th annual day ‘Kala Dundubhi’ with enthusiasm. M.R.V. Prasad, president, Gayana Samaja, inaugurated the celebrations.

The programme began with a welcome speech followed by an invocation song by the school choir ‘Inchara’. School principal Sai Kumari presented the school annual report.

Children who excelled in curricular as well as co-curricular activities received trophies and certificates. At the cultural programme, students presented dance forms of various regions. A yoga display brought huge applause from the audience.


The kabaddi team of Oxford School, Nagarabhavi, have brought laurels to the institution by bagging first prize in the interschool tournament conducted by the Sports Authority of India. The team members received trophies and certificates.
